Expanding our Family Violence services

Social Work Project & Family Violence Project

BCLS has implemented two projects that aim to provide a better holistic service to clients experiencing family violence – our new Family Violence Project headed by experienced Community Lawyer, Mikala McIntyre, and complementing this, our new Social Work Service headed by Dr Lee FitzRoy.

Dr Lee FitzRoy joined the BCLS team in February to coordinate our Social Work Service and supervise Social Work students from Deakin University and Monash University. Lee is a qualified Social Worker with over 25 years experience working in the community sector in Melbourne, regional Victoria (including Geelong) and overseas (Cambodia, Laos and the Pacific).

Jillian Chapman, our Community Education and Development Coordinator, who helped establish these new projects recently had the opportunity to share information about our Social Work Service with our colleagues at the National Community Legal Centre Conference held in Fremantle.
